GUSTAV KLIMT: FLORAL WORLDS
By Sandra Tretter and Peter Weinh äupl (eds.)
This book examines - against the backdrop of the "blooming" Art Nouveau and the garden movements around 1900 - Klimt's sensitive engagement with the world of flowers, trees and blossoms, starting with his early realistic forest views and the daring modern image details of the famous Attersee landscapes and garden portraits, up to the late portraits with floral decoration. Inspired by Austrian pioneers and international trends, the Art Nouveau artist found his characteristic style. Above all, however, the green space in the backyard of his Josefstadt studio, the enchanted artist's garden in the Biedermeier studio in Hietzing and his most motif-rich "place of longing", Attersee, enriched Klimt's artistic nature.
