This avant-garde frame was produced by the Wiener Werkstätte only once, as a special commission exclusively for one of the workshop co-founders, the industrialist Fritz Waerndorfer. The painstakingly hand-cut squares in their technical clarity, typical of the Wiener Werkstätte aesthetic, make a good match with the then-young medium of photography.
